Sylvia and Peter met at a folk festival (he was singing with Resolution: www.resolutionmusic.uk) and they started singing and playing together. They were soon joined by Andrew Wickens - a violinist with the Philharmonia Orchestra - and went on to play classical concerts as the trio Classical Bohemians (www.classicalbohemians.uk)at venues around the UK.
Sylvia and Peter have not neglected their folk roots, and enjoy the freedom to give audiences the best of all musical worlds.

Sylvia studied the flute under Alison Farrant, and choral singing under Robin Page (currently Musical Director and Principal Conductor of Thames Sinfonia and the period instrument Purcell Orchestra in London), with whom she performed with the West Sussex Philharmonic Choir. She is recognised as an outstanding interpreter of Sussex folk songs and music.

Sylvia's Japanese mother introduced her to music as a small child and she finds it difficult to remember a time when she has not sung, or played whistles, recorders and flutes. She is grateful that she has always found it easy to remember tunes and words.

- I focus on good tunes; they're what make beautiful music exciting and entertaining.

Peter studied the piano from the age of four.
In his teenage years he wrote music for stage shows, and used the guitar for convenience. In his twenties he was asked to write the music for two musicals, which were performed in his then home town of suburban London, since when he has composed and arranged music for many genres, and is a long-time member of the Performing Rights Society.

Peter sang with and wrote many songs for Resolution: www.resolutionmusic.uk
Peter sang with but wrote no songs for The Full Shanty: www.fullshanty.co.uk
Peter played the guitar, scored the arrangements and wrote new music for Classical Bohemians: www.classicalbohemians.uk

- to have the opportunity to create the musical space into which Sylvia's wonderful voice can echo is very, very rewarding - not as relaxing as singing rock, but definitely more exciting.
